About Our School

The Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School was built when two districts with a rich history (Eastport and Manorville) merged as one to become sharks. The Eastport-South Manor Jr-Sr High School opened its doors in 2003 for students within grades 7-12. The school continues to develop new traditions and seeks to provide all students with access to a rigorous academic foundation and the skills needed to be successful in the 21st Century. The school achieves this by providing unique opportunities for our student body in a collaborative and supportive environment. The dynamic classrooms foster communication, critical thinking, and creativity within a demanding curriculum. Students are provided access to college classes, work experience and other preparatory programs that will assist students for life after high school.

Our motto:
Building a better tomorrow by making a difference today!

Erick Velasco thumbnail237701
Eastport-South Manor Jr.-Sr. High School student Erick Velasco earned the title of Employee of the Month in his career and technical education program at BOCES Technical Center for the month of November 2022. Erick received the title for excellence in carpentry, residential construction and home improvement.

The title of Employee of the Month was established by BTC to recognize students whom their instructors would want to hire. The title is not necessarily given to the person with the best skills, but to the individual who demonstrates professionalism and who has the desire to be trained in the field. Being selected Employee of the Month is a great honor, as these students, like Erick, serve as role models among their peers.

The district congratulates Erick on this outstanding accomplishment.

The Jr.-Sr. High School gymnasium resonated with excitement as juniors and seniors took a step toward their futures through attendance at the annual college fair, held on Nov. 2. More than 100 representatives from colleges and universities across the East Coast were in attendance to pitch their educational and athletic programs to perspective students.

The college fair is just one opportunity for students to plan their post-secondary future. In mid-September and October, seniors participated in conferences with their guidance counselors, with junior conferences starting in November. Junior Parent Night will also be held on Nov. 15 to help prepare juniors on the planning and application process.

The Eastport-South Manor Jr.-Sr. High School Introduction to Science Research class participated in the 2022 Day in the Life of a River program at Calverton’s Peconic River in October. The district’s students were among hundreds of student-researchers from more than a dozen schools who gathered at various places along the Peconic River system to measure water quality, biodiversity and the physical characteristics of the river system.

After results were collected, the students submitted the data, which is then used by stakeholders for planning and for making decisions regarding the river and the impacts of humans on Long Island’s environment. The student-researchers also collected aquatic macroinvertebrate samples for a DNA barcoding analysis of biodiversity.

Advanced Placement Biology and science research teacher Robert Bolen said that district students have participated in this program for the past decade, making them stewards of the local environment.
